Annual General Meeting
Date: September 5th 2009 Place: YMCA building 111 Great Russell St London WC1B 3NP
Guests at the AGM: From left: Dr. Spinks, Professor Chaudhuri, Mr. DosSantos
Dear members,
On Saturday 5th September 09 we met in London to gather together for our 2nd AGM meeting. We had a much better response this year and tripled our members list from last years meeting.
We had a few committee issues to clear and vote on before the guest speakers were able to talk.
Our chair-person Paul Whitlock has stood down from his position due to other commitments and we are very lucky to welcome Ellie MacDonald as a trustee and also has filled the position of chair -person. We also say goodbye to Gillian Young who has worked hard within the committee and writing the minutes so correctly for us. We shall miss both Gillian and Paul but we move on now and become even closer to charity status. We were very lucky to have Mr. Alex dosSantos from UCB/Pharma who work quite closely with our support group. First on the list of speakers was Ellie MacDonald who in her own right has passed a 4 year Under Graduate degree with flying colours and gave us a really interesting talk on her research. We were delighted that Dr. Julian Spinks was was able to join us and give a splendid talk on doctors attitudes to RLS we then had a very healthy question time which the members really enjoyed.
Following Dr. Spinks was Prof. Chaudhuri who had only come to support us and give a short talk on a book that he is going to be writing for patients but soon became engulfed himself in a question time.
It was clear that a good time was had by all and we very much thank all members who gave up their Saturday to come and support us.
Best wishes to you all.
Beverley
